On October 18, 2015, a tragic incident occurred in downtown Portland, Oregon, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Dion Anthony Matthews Jr. The incident took place near Dante's, a music venue located at the intersection of Southwest 3rd Avenue and Burnside Street. At approximately 11:15 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting, where they found Dion Matthews Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound.
