In the late hours of July 5, 2024, the vibrant sounds of a Friday night in Portland's Old Town neighborhood were shattered by the sharp report of gunfire. Near the intersection of Northwest 3rd Avenue and Northwest Everett Street, a man lay wounded. The victim was 35-year-old Jose L. Galindo-Maldonado, a Hispanic male with connections to both Portland and Gresham.
Officers from the Entertainment Detail were in the area and heard the shots around 11:48 p.m., responding quickly to the scene where they found Galindo-Maldonado injured.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene and provided trauma first aid before rushing Galindo-Maldonado to a nearby hospital. For two hours, medical staff worked tirelessly to save his life, but his injuries proved too severe. Jose L.
