Patrick Ralph Sanford, a 51-year-old White male, was shot and killed on the morning of June 17, 2021, in Hillsboro, Oregon. The incident occurred at an apartment complex located at 2065 SE 44th Ave. Sanford, the owner of Titan Towing, was at the property with another operator to move vehicles from the parking lot to the street. This was being done to prepare for a scheduled resurfacing of the lot, a fact that residents had reportedly been made aware of.
Shortly before 9 a.m., a dispute
arose between Sanford and a resident of the complex. The argument escalated, leading to the resident shooting Sanford multiple times. Sanford tragically died at the scene of the confrontation. The quiet morning at the apartment complex was shattered by the violence that unfolded over the routine towing of vehicles.
Following the shooting, Hillsboro police arrested 42-year-old Matthew Alexander McAdoo in connection with the death. McAdoo was taken into custody and subsequently lodged at the Washington County Jail. He was charged with second-degree murder. The investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing.
