Timothy Jett, a 55-year-old Caucasian male, was fatally shot on February 7, 2017, inside a residence on Garrison Avenue in Charleston, West Virginia. He died at the scene from his injuries. A second victim, Audrey Short, 38, was also shot during the same incident and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Within 24 hours of the shooting, Charleston police arrested two suspects, Bobby Hall, 42, and Misty Rucker, 38. Initially, they were charged with Jett's murder.
The charges against them were later amended to include the murder of Audrey Short after she was taken off life support and died from her injuries a week after the shooting.
Authorities alleged that Bobby Gene Hall shot both Jett and Short while they were in bed, with Misty Ann Rucker acting as a lookout at the front door of the house. After the incident, Hall and Rucker allegedly fled in a stolen vehicle and were later apprehended. In August 2017, both Hall and Rucker pleaded not guilty to charges that included first-degree murder. Later, in April 2018, Bobby Gene Hall pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Timothy Jett and Audrey Short.
