In the pre-dawn hours of June 26, 1981, a sequence of events began to unfold in Charleston, West Virginia, that would end in tragedy. Patrolman Eddie Ray Duncan, a 32-year-old White male with three years of service with the Charleston Police Department, was on duty. An altercation at a local establishment, Spyro's Lounge, had been reported, and the individual involved was seen leaving in a yellow Cadillac.
