On February 24, 2016, Shawndale Neal, a 39-year-old resident of Chicago, was found dead near his home in the North Lawndale neighborhood. The discovery was made on a Wednesday morning.

Contrary to some initial reports, Shawndale Neal was not found with a fatal gunshot wound. Instead, he was discovered to have been beaten to death. The circumstances surrounding his death indicate a violent and tragic end to his life.
