On September 14, 2010, Salomon Abonce, a 43-year old Hispanic male, was wounded in a shooting on Chicago's South Side and later pronounced dead at 10:32 p.m. at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Public reporting at the time identified him as living on the 8000 block of South Nottingham Avenue in nearby Burbank, and the medical examiner's office confirmed his death that night.
