In the late morning of August 22, 2021, a disagreement between roommates in a Sioux City, Iowa, residence escalated into a fatal encounter. Jason Lafferty, a 41-year-old Caucasian male, was shot and killed in the home he shared with his acquaintance, Robert D. Buel. The Sioux City Police Department received a report of the shooting at approximately 9:28 a.m. and responded to the residence in the 200 block of 21st Street.
