On October 30, 1994, Alexis "Lexie" Martinez, a 10-year-old girl, and her stepmother, Lauren Martinez, were tragically killed in their home in Bluffdale, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City.

The suspect in this case is Nathan K. Martinez, the 17-year-old son of Ben Martinez and stepson of Lauren Martinez. Nathan Martinez committed the murders while the victims were still in their beds. He shot and killed his stepmother first, and then shot and killed his half-sister, Lexie Martinez.
