On July 29, 1977, Officer John F. Daley of the Hartford Police Department tragically lost his life in the line of duty. Responding to a disturbance in the Blue Hills neighborhood, Officer Daley encountered a man discharging a shotgun from his residence. As he sought cover, his service revolver inadvertently discharged when he tripped on a curb, inflicting a fatal wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Officer Daley succumbed to his injuries.
