In the summer of 2015, the life of Garnett Godfrey Henry, a 43-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Hartford, Connecticut. In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5th, Henry was at a basement party on Edgewood Street when gunfire erupted. He was struck in the chest, and another man, Knorskov T Senior, aged 40, was shot in the abdomen.
Both men were rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
While Senior was initially listed in critical condition, Henry’s injuries proved to be fatal. He succumbed to his wounds two days later, on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. At the time of the incident, Hartford police indicated that they had "very strong leads" and that the Major Crimes Division was actively investigating the shooting.
Born in Ewarton, St. Catherine, Jamaica, on April 19, 1972, Garnett Henry had moved to Hartford thirteen years prior to his death after living in Queens, New York. He was a truck driver and had previously owned his own trucking company. Known for his love of soccer, dominoes, and dancing, he was remembered by family and friends as a generous and kind-hearted person who was always willing to help others. He was a father to a son and two daughters.
Despite the initial optimism from law enforcement, publicly available information and news reports in the years following the shooting have not indicated that any arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Garnett Godfrey Henry. There has been no mention of any named suspects or persons of interest. The case, like many others, appears to have gone cold, leaving a family without answers and a community still searching for justice for his untimely death.
