In the early morning hours of February 17, 2010, the quiet of a Hartford, Connecticut neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunshots. At approximately 12:53 a.m., Hartford police responded to a report of shots fired on Pembroke Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered a Mazda 6 engulfed in flames.
After the Hartford Fire Department extinguished the blaze, they made a grim discovery inside the vehicle. The body of 26-year-old Jeremy Maurice Perk Williams was found.
An autopsy would later reveal that he had been shot multiple times before the fire. Neighbors reported seeing several men in the vicinity of the car shortly after the fire started, but these leads did not result in any arrests.
In the wake of his murder, Jeremy's family, including his sister Lacrisha, held a candlelight vigil and an anti-violence rally in the hopes of bringing attention to his case and encouraging witnesses to come forward. Despite their pleas for information and the ongoing investigation by law enforcement, the murder of Jeremy Williams remains unsolved. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his death. His family continues to hope that someone with information will step forward to help them find justice.
