In the brisk morning air of Saturday, December 21, 2019, the life of 23-year-old Edward Boo David Hallett, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in New Haven, Connecticut. Just before 11 a.m., gunshots echoed in the vicinity of 88 Daggett Street, leaving Hallett with fatal wounds. First responders found him at the scene and he was quickly transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, but the efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
Edward, known affectionately as "Boo" to
his family and friends, was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and had moved to New Haven with his family at the age of five. He was educated within the New Haven school system. His death sent ripples of grief through his community, leaving behind his mother, siblings, and a large extended family who remembered him as a loving individual.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the New Haven Police Department launched an investigation, indicating that they had received numerous leads.
