On a late summer evening in New Haven, Connecticut, the life of Jerome Moye, a 37-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On August 30, 2020, at approximately 8:15 p.m., gunfire erupted on Hazel Street in the Newhallville neighborhood. Responding to multiple 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert, New Haven police and firefighters discovered Moye suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders rushed Moye, a resident of West Haven, to a nearby hospital, but his
injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. His death marked the city's sixteenth homicide of the year, adding to a growing concern about violence in the community. The New Haven Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting.
In the days and years that have followed, authorities have continued to seek information from the public to help solve the case. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the death of Jerome Moye.
