On October 9, 2024, Niygere L. Wicker, a 21-year-old resident of New Haven, Connecticut, was fatally shot while riding his dirt bike in the area of Ferry Street and Wolcott Street in the Fair Haven neighborhood. The incident occurred just after noon when a vehicle, which appeared to be following Wicker, pulled up and the occupants fired three shots, hitting Wicker in the head.
