On the evening of January 6, 2023, tragedy struck in New Haven, Connecticut, when 41-year-old Charles Miller, a Black male from West Haven, was fatally shot. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the New Haven Inn located on Pond Lily Avenue. Authorities were alerted to the sound of gunfire by the city's ShotSpotter system, and a caller also reported that a person had been shot.
