In New Haven, Connecticut, on the evening of March 16, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded inside a three-family home on Dewitt Street. Eight-year-old Stacey Zane Glasgow, a Black male, was found lying on the kitchen floor with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10:54 p.m. Stacey was swiftly transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead.
At the time of the incident, the young boy was with other family members.
The investigation into the second-grade student's death is ongoing. Police discovered a gun with an extended magazine in the backyard of the residence, which they believe was the weapon involved in the fatal shooting. Authorities have stated that only one shot was fired. While the firearm has been recovered, the police have not yet determined its owner.
As of late March 2025, no arrests have been made in connection with Stacey Glasgow's death. Law enforcement officials are awaiting a report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the official cause of death. News reports have indicated that the shooting may have been accidental.
