In the late hours of a Wednesday in New Haven, Connecticut, the life of Lawrence Allen Atkins, a 35-year-old Black / African American male, was cut short. On August 5, 2015, police responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Bouchet Lane and Eastern Street. There, they discovered Atkins with a single gunshot wound to his shoulder.
