On a cold Friday night in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of Corey Farrah Adbi Aziz, a 28-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On January 29, 2021, at approximately 9:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment building in the 1900 block of Main Street. Upon arrival, they found Aziz suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
He was rushed to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division immediately launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting. The case drew public attention as detectives worked to piece together the events of that evening and identify who was responsible for Aziz's death. For months, the investigation continued with few public developments.
In a significant step forward, on June 14, 2021, the Hartford Police Department released images of a person of interest and asked for the public's help in identifying the individual. The suspect was described as a Black man wearing green sweatpants, a black zippered hooded sweatshirt, a black mask, and a distinctive pair of Yeezy Season 7 Desert Boots in a "House Blue" colorway. The police urged anyone with information regarding the identity of this individual or any other details about the case to contact their tip line.
Despite the release of the suspect's description and images, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of the person of interest in the death of Corey Farrah Adbi Aziz. The investigation remains open, and the identity of the individual responsible for his death is still unknown to the public.
