A quiet Saturday evening in a Phoenix neighborhood was shattered by violence that ended in the death of Lucio Vega-Lopez. In the early hours of July 11, 2015, at approximately 12:00 a.m., two unknown Black males armed with handguns jumped the front fence of a residence in the area of 4600 N. 29th Avenue.
Once on the property, one of the men began assaulting the father of Lucio Vega-Lopez. Upon witnessing the attack, Mr.
Vega-Lopez, a 38-year-old male, came to his father's aid and was subsequently shot. The two suspects fled the area on foot before the police arrived. Lucio Vega-Lopez was born on April 15, 1977, and his death was recorded on July 12, 2015.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. To date, no arrests have been made, and the two suspects remain unidentified. Authorities are continuing to seek information from the public regarding the case.
