Police are trying to locate a suspect in a fatal shooting outside a motel along Interstate 17 early Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred at about 1:30 a.m. when Phoenix police officers near a Premier Inn in the area of North Black Canyon Highway and West Peoria Avenue heard gunshots coming from the motel, according to Phoenix police Sgt. James Holmes.
