In the line of duty, Constable Albert N. Moore, a 46-year-old law enforcement officer, lost his life on Thursday, October 28, 1926, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His death came as a result of gunfire while he was attempting to arrest a man who was intoxicated.
During the attempt to take the suspect into custody, a violent encounter unfolded. The intoxicated individual discharged a firearm, striking and killing Constable Moore.
Despite being mortally wounded, Constable Moore managed to return fire.
In the exchange of shots, the suspect who had fatally wounded the constable was also shot and killed at the scene. Constable Moore had served in his role for four years before his untimely death.
