In the evening hours of February 16, 2023, a burst of gunfire at the Gladiola Estates apartment complex in Jonesboro, Arkansas, shattered the night and ended the life of 19-year-old Tyrese Rogers. The male victim was discovered by police lying deceased in the roadway of the complex located at 703 Gladiolus Drive. The events of that fatal evening unfolded in a chaotic series of calls to law enforcement.
The first indication of trouble came when a call was placed about a man who, despite
suffering from several gunshot wounds and a possible broken arm, had managed to drive himself to a nearby Exxon gas station at 3511 Harrisburg Road. As officers responded to that scene and the 18-year-old victim was being transported to a hospital, further reports came in of more victims back at the apartment complex. It was there, upon their arrival, that they found Tyrese Rogers.
In the aftermath of the shooting, investigators were able to piece together the events of that night, determining that the entire incident had transpired within the confines of the apartment complex. Their investigation led to the arrest of two individuals. A 16-year-old male was taken into custody and faced charges of first-degree murder and first-degree battery. Another individual, 18-year-old Demarrion Vesser, was also arrested in connection with the shooting. Vesser was charged with tampering with physical evidence, obstructing a government investigation, and theft of a firearm. Another 16-year-old male was also found at the scene with minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
