On May 14, 2017, at approximately 12:20 a.m., a tragic shooting occurred in downtown Jonesboro, Arkansas, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Monterio Barnes and injuries to six others. The incident took place at a private party held in the basement of a building located at 311-B South Main Street. The gathering, known as "The Basement," was a popular venue for local events.
