Death by Force

On December 25, 1920, 45-year-old Patrolman Aylmer "Snookums" Ragland of the Jonesboro Police Department in Arkansas was fatally shot while conducting a raid on a dice game in the local African American community. Ragland, known for his strict enforcement in the Black neighborhood, had recently moved to Jonesboro from Pine Bluff and had gained a reputation for his aggressive policing tactics.
