In the spring of 2020, a sudden burst of violence shattered the afternoon calm in a Jonesboro, Arkansas neighborhood, leaving a young man dead and a community in shock. On April 10th, police responded to calls of a disturbance involving gunfire in the 500 block of Melrose. Upon their arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Robert Tarius Green on the ground, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
He was a resident of Jonesboro.
Emergency medical services transported Green to a local hospital, but his injury proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased. The male victim’s death prompted an immediate and intensive investigation by the Jonesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division. Their efforts quickly led them to identify a person of interest in the fatal shooting.
Within a short time, investigators developed a suspect in the homicide. Police arrested Adrian Bellinger, a 19-year-old resident of Jonesboro, in connection with Robert Green's death. Following his arrest, Bellinger was taken into custody and held at the Craighead County Detention Center as he awaited his probable cause hearing. The investigation continued as the legal process against the suspect began. Robert Tarius Green was born in Little Rock and had spent his formative years in Jonesboro where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
