In the late winter of 2014, a violent encounter in a Texarkana, Arkansas residence claimed the life of 25-year-old DeMarquis Reeves. On the evening of February 25th, gunfire erupted inside a home on Locust Street, leaving Reeves fatally wounded. The incident, which was characterized by law enforcement as a deadly shootout, resulted in a swift and intensive investigation by the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.
Within hours of the shooting, detectives were able to identify and
apprehend two suspects in connection with the murder. Anthony King and Joel Hill were both taken into custody and charged with capital murder. The investigation, however, did not end there. A third individual, 21-year-old Devin White, was also implicated in the homicide. White had sustained injuries during the altercation and was subsequently hospitalized.
Following his release from the hospital, which was reportedly against medical advice, authorities located White traveling in a vehicle on Summerhill Road. He was arrested without incident and also faced a charge of capital murder. The arrest of all three men brought a rapid, if not emotionally settling, development to the case for the family and friends of DeMarquis Reeves, a young man whose life was cut short in a moment of brutal violence.
