In the early morning hours of December 4, 2022, a gathering in the parking lot of a convenience store on Stateline Avenue in Texarkana, Arkansas, turned deadly. Joseph Ross, a 26-year-old male, was in the parking lot of the EZ Mart when an altercation broke out and gunshots were fired. Ross was struck by the gunfire and was privately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His body was later sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
