In a tragic turn of events on November 6, 2023, in Texarkana, Arkansas, a young life was cut devastatingly short. Four-month-old Emerie Gailey, a female infant, was killed in a violent encounter that also claimed the life of her father and left her mother critically injured. The incident unfolded in their home on Glendale Avenue, shaking the community and leaving a family irrevocably broken.
The day had begun with a semblance of normalcy for the family.
However, the afternoon took a dark turn, culminating in a 911 call reporting a shooting. When officers from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department arrived, they were informed that the suspected shooter had barricaded himself inside the residence with the victims. Forcing their way in, they discovered a harrowing scene. Emerie and her 27-year-old father, Preston Gailey, were found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The infant's mother, 19-year-old Janie Gailey, was also found with severe gunshot injuries but was still alive. She was quickly transported to a hospital and later airlifted to Little Rock for advanced medical care.
The investigation that followed painted a grim picture of domestic turmoil leading up to the fatal incident.
