On October 30, 1925, Sheriff Elisha Franklin "Lish" Barber, aged 51, was fatally shot in Texarkana, Arkansas. While meeting with three individuals at a local business—identified as the former police chief of Texarkana and his two sons—an argument erupted, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
