Robert Leon Scales was a 44-year-old Black man from North Little Rock, Arkansas, born there on June 29, 1971 to Annie Lee and Leon Scales. He grew up and lived in the same community where his life would later be taken, a place that knew his family name and eventually came to know his photograph from news stories and memorial pages.
