In the late morning of September 18, 2016, a frantic cry for help shattered the quiet of the Shadow Lake Apartment Complex in west Little Rock, Arkansas. A woman, hysterical with grief, dialed for assistance, screaming that her boyfriend had been shot inside their apartment. When police arrived at the residence on West Markham Street, they discovered the body of 26-year-old Robert Ryan Hunter. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
