Elmer Brown, a 73-year-old retired Chicago police sergeant, passed away on March 24, 2014, following a violent home invasion that occurred on March 10, 2014. Brown, who was a white male, was critically injured during the incident when two men broke into his home on the East Side of Chicago. The intruders, who were searching for a safe, shot Brown in the neck. Despite being rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, he succumbed to his injuries two weeks later.
