Michael Anthony Robbins, a 57-year-old African American male, was a dedicated officer with the Chicago Police Department. On September 10, 1994, Robbins and his partner, Patrolman Talmitch A. Jackson, were investigating a shooting involving two rival gangs in the Grand Crossing District of Chicago. As they patrolled the 6500 block of South Langley Avenue in their unmarked squad car, they were ambushed by Claude McGee, a 19-year-old gang member.
