In the Capitol View area of Little-rock, Arkansas, on the morning of January 5, 2024, the life of 37-year-old Christopher Michael Dontae' Hurvey was tragically cut short. Patrol officers from the 12th Street Division of the Little Rock Police Department were dispatched to the 3300 block of West 11th Street around 11 a.m. following a report of a man bleeding from his chest.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Hurvey with a severe injury to his upper chest.
Paramedics with MEMS were quick to respond and initiated life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, Hurvey succumbed to what was later identified as an apparent gunshot wound. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin their investigation. They soon discovered a blood trail that led from where Hurvey was found to the porch of a nearby residence at 3113 West 11th Street, suggesting a possible location of the shooting.
A search warrant was obtained and executed for the residence, but authorities found it empty of any occupants. However, a significant piece of evidence was recovered from the porch: a spent shell casing. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, searching for any potential witnesses and reviewing available video surveillance that might shed light on the events leading to Hurvey's death. The Pulaski County Coroner's Office transported his body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to formally determine the cause of death. As of now, the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with the incident.
