In the winter of 2017, a young man's life was cut tragically short in Little Rock, Arkansas. On the night of February 7th, 18-year-old Alexander Reed was fatally shot inside an apartment on Par Drive. The incident, which also left three other individuals wounded, unfolded around 11:20 p.m. when police were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Reed deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
The other three victims, who were tenants of the apartment, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries and were reported to be in stable condition.
According to the accounts provided by the wounded tenants, the violent episode began after Reed arrived at their apartment accompanied by an unknown male. After a short while, this individual allegedly opened the apartment door to allow two other men to enter. One of these men then brandished a handgun and announced a robbery before opening fire. In the ensuing chaos, one of the apartment's occupants drew his own firearm and returned fire. During this exchange of gunfire, Alexander Reed and two of the tenants were struck.
The investigation into the deadly shooting quickly led to the identification and arrest of two suspects. 21-year-old Alvin Chaffin of Pine Bluff was taken into custody after he sought treatment for a gunshot wound to his hand at a hospital in Jefferson County. He was positively identified as one of the three men who entered the apartment. Shortly after, the Little Rock Police Department arrested a second suspect, 18-year-old Terrance Reynolds. Reynolds was charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, and first-degree battery for his alleged role in the incident. Authorities indicated that they were also searching for a third suspect, though further details about this individual were not immediately released.
