On October 7, 2008, 24-year-old Deno Ross, a Black male from Oklahoma City, was found fatally shot in a part of the city described as a known area for drug activity. His death was recorded that same day, and from the outset it was treated as a killing, placing him among the many young people in Oklahoma City whose lives have been cut short by gun violence.
