In the late hours of a cold January night in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 58-year-old Allen Ray McGuire was tragically cut short. On January 19, 2018, at the Summertree Apartments, a call reporting shots fired brought police to a grim scene. There, they discovered McGuire, who had died from an apparent gunshot wound.
As investigators began to piece together the events of that fatal evening, their attention turned to two local teenagers.
The subsequent investigation led by North Little Rock Detectives and the United States Marshall Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force pointed to 18-year-old Typaris Johnson and 17-year-old Shaquan Thompson as the individuals responsible for McGuire's death.
In early March of the same year, law enforcement officers executed a search and seizure warrant, taking both Johnson and Thompson into custody. The two teenagers from North Little Rock were then charged with the murder of Allen Ray McGuire. Thompson, despite being a minor, was to be charged as an adult in the case. Following their arrest, both suspects were held without bond at the Pulaski County Detention Center. Interestingly, when officers first arrived at the scene of the crime, they had found Johnson incapacitated with a gunshot wound to his arm and he was subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment.
