On June 14, 2023, a promising young life was tragically cut short in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Ariez Eldridge, a 22-year-old Black / African American woman, was killed in a devastating act of violence that unfolded in a residence on the 2100 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North. The Clark County coroner's office later confirmed that she died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The incident, which has been ruled a murder-suicide, also resulted in the death of her 18-year-old boyfriend, Gregory Ford.
Ariez was discovered in the dining room of the home and was rushed to University Medical Center, but tragically succumbed to her injuries. North Las Vegas police reported that she was shot by Ford, who then took his own life at the scene. This act of violence was noted as the first of two murder-suicides to occur in the Las Vegas area within a span of less than 36 hours.
Ariez was a beloved daughter, born on April 30, 2001, to LaNeisha and Demetrics. Described as charismatic, steadfast, and ambitious, she possessed a bright and bubbly personality from a young age. Known for her infectious smile and fearless spirit, she had a unique ability to connect with people and was a devoted animal lover. At the age of 21, Ariez embraced motherhood with the birth of her son, Geovanni Alexander. This new chapter in her life gave her a renewed sense of purpose, and she was dedicated to instilling strong values in her child. Her family remembers her as a loving and devoted mother who had many hopes and dreams for herself and her son.
