In the afternoon heat of July 11, 2023, tragedy struck in Little Rock, Arkansas, forever altering the lives of a local family. Brodrick Tiyell Ray, a 29-year-old African American man, was shot and killed near 2110 South Pine Street. The incident, which unfolded around 3:30 p.m., also claimed the life of his 36-year-old brother, Brandon Ray. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered both brothers suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response of emergency medical services, neither man could be saved, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Brodrick was a native of Little Rock, born on August 15, 1993. He was known for his deep faith and active involvement in his church. Together with his brother, he was an entrepreneur, and the two of them owned and operated a family lawn service business. Their deaths marked the 29th and 30th homicides in the city for that year.
The investigation into the double homicide led police to identify two suspects. A third man found at the scene with a gunshot wound, 54-year-old Tyron Nutt, was identified as a suspect after he received medical treatment for his injuries. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two counts of capital murder. A second suspect, 22-year-old Tyree Waters, was also arrested and faced the same charges in connection with the fatal shootings of the Ray brothers. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter remains ongoing as the community seeks justice for the two slain brothers.
