In the late hours of Friday, February 27, 2026, the life of 40-year-old Greg Wells was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Responding to reports of a shooting just before 9:00 p.m., officers from the Little Rock Police Department arrived at the 600 block of E. 9th Street to a grim scene. There they discovered Wells suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the location and attempted life-saving measures, but tragically, Wells
succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The investigation into his death began immediately, with homicide detectives and the crime scene unit canvassing the area for any potential witnesses and searching for video surveillance that might shed light on the events that transpired.
Amid the initial chaos, officers at the scene encountered 63-year-old Juan Nieves, who made a startling admission, stating that he was the one who had shot Wells. Nieves was promptly detained by the authorities and transported to the Major Crimes Division for further questioning.
As the investigation continues, an autopsy has been ordered to be performed by the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the precise cause of death. While Nieves has been identified and was taken into custody, authorities have not yet released information regarding formal arrests or charges in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation.
