On a Sunday evening in Little Rock, Arkansas, a family dispute escalated into a tragedy that left a young man dead in the front yard of a home on Dahlia Drive. The incident unfolded on September 20, 2020, when police were called to the residence around 6:59 p.m. for a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Nicholas Taylor of the nearby city of Sherwood, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man identified as the person of interest in the shooting was still at the location when authorities arrived. Vincent Mitchell, a 54-year-old resident of Little Rock, was taken into custody by the responding officers. It was later determined that Mitchell was Nicholas Taylor's step-grandfather. The relationship between the two and the events that led to the fatal shooting became the focus of the ensuing investigation.
Following an interview with the parties involved and an assessment of the crime scene, homicide detectives arrested and charged Vincent Mitchell with second-degree murder. He was subsequently transported to the Pulaski County Jail.
