In the winter of 2016, just days after being released from prison, 42-year-old Larry Bernard Williams II, a Black male, was found dead in his Little Rock, Arkansas home. On the morning of February 26, a friend named Malik Mumit grew concerned when he couldn't reach Williams. He had visited Williams at his residence at 1207 E. 28th Street the evening before and left after the nightly news.
When his calls and messages went unanswered the next day, Mumit drove to the house to check on him.
Upon arriving, Mumit made a grim discovery. He found Williams inside, lying in a pool of blood with evident facial trauma, and immediately called 911. When emergency responders arrived, they pronounced Williams dead at the scene. An investigation determined that he had been shot once. The death was classified as the city's sixth homicide of the year.
During the investigation, Mumit informed authorities that Williams had previously been in an argument with an individual connected to the death of Williams' brother. However, it was not clear if Williams had had any recent contact with this person. Investigators canvassed the neighborhood, searching for any information or leads that might point to a suspect.
Despite their efforts, no suspects have ever been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. The death of Larry Bernard Williams II remains an unsolved homicide.
