On a tragic morning in Little Rock, Arkansas, a violent encounter cut short the life of 22-year-old Cordarell Collins. The incident, which unfolded on June 6, 2016, at an apartment complex in the western part of the city, also left two others injured, including a young child. The male victim was identified as Cordarell Collins.

The chain of events began when Alexis Davis, Collins's girlfriend, was awakened by his cell phone. After the call, Collins left their bedroom with the intention of picking up his mother. Almost immediately after he stepped out of the room, gunshots rang out, and Davis heard Collins screaming. In a desperate act of self-defense, Davis handed a gun to Collins, who was able to fire one shot before he collapsed from his injuries.

As the assailant continued to fire through the bedroom door, Davis sought refuge in a closet with her three-year-old son, K.D. From there, she returned fire. Both she and her young son sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in the harrowing ordeal. Tragically, Cordarell Collins did not survive the shooting.

The suspect in the triple shooting was identified as 23-year-old Denzell Terrell Braud. Authorities reported that the motive behind the shooting was domestic in nature, and it was noted that both Braud and Collins were residents of the same apartment complex. Following an investigation, Braud was arrested and faced serious charges for his role in the violent incident.

Denzell Terrell Braud was subsequently found guilty by a Pulaski County Circuit Court jury of capital murder for the death of Cordarell Collins. In addition to the murder conviction, he was also found guilty on two counts of first-degree battery for the injuries sustained by Alexis Davis and her young son. Braud was sentenced to life in prison for capital murder, with a concurrent twenty-year sentence for the battery convictions.
