In the early hours of February 16, 2014, police were called to a small residence at 1104 Vestal Street in North Little Rock, where they found 33-year-old Paul Edward Samaniego, a Hispanic/Latino male, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Baptist Springhill Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Reports at the time noted the shooting happened just after 1 a.m., and identified Samaniego as previously having ties to Monticello, Arkansas.
