On a late March morning in 2020, the quiet of a Little Rock neighborhood was broken by a call to the police. On March 27th, at approximately 8:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence at 2924 S. Gaines Street after a woman reported that shots had been fired at her. Inside the home, authorities discovered the body of 31-year-old Jeremy Bonds, a Black male, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The scene was quickly secured by law enforcement, and an in-depth investigation into the circumstances of his death began.
As detectives delved into the case, a person of interest emerged from within the very house where Jeremy Bonds had lost his life. Keith Farr Jr., a 41-year-old man who resided at the South Gaines Street home, was identified and brought in for questioning. During his interview with homicide detectives, Farr claimed that the shooting had been an act of self-defense. While he was not immediately arrested for the homicide due to this claim, he was charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons.
The investigation, however, continued to unfold. After further examination of the evidence and witness statements, an arrest warrant for homicide was issued for Keith Farr Jr. in connection with Jeremy Bonds' death. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Pulaski County jail. The case was then turned over to the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review and to determine the course of legal action. The authorities continued to piece together the events of that tragic morning, seeking to bring clarity and justice for Jeremy Bonds and his loved ones.
