In the late hours of a Sunday night in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 19-year-old Brent Cartwright was tragically cut short. On March 19, 2017, the young Black man was in a parking lot at 6420 Colonel Glenn Road when gunfire erupted. The scene was described as chaotic, with a large gathering of people and vehicles in the area. Amid the confusion, multiple shots were fired, striking not only Cartwright but also several storefronts in the vicinity.
Following the shooting, which
occurred just before 11:00 p.m., Cartwright was privately transported to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. When police arrived at the parking lot, they discovered a significant amount of blood and a handgun near a grocery store cart-return. Several vehicles were seen leaving the area as law enforcement secured the scene.
