In the spring of 2023, a gathering of people and vehicles in Little Rock, Arkansas, turned tragic, ending the life of 20-year-old Jailene Washington. On the evening of March 26th, police responded to the sound of gunfire in the area of 3002 Washington Street. The scene that unfolded was one of chaos and violence, with multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
It is believed that an argument among the large crowd escalated, leading to the deadly shooting.
Amidst the confusion, another young man, 20-year-old Malachi Carey, was found deceased at the scene. Jailene Washington, a Black / African American male from the nearby city of Jacksonville, was among six people rushed to local hospitals for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries. The incident left a total of two dead and several others wounded, shaking the community.
