In the quiet neighborhood of Little Rock, Arkansas, a burst of violence on a Tuesday evening shattered the peace and ended the life of 44-year-old Shunn Piggee. On June 25, 2024, Southwest Patrol Officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Liberty Cove following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but their efforts were in vain; the man succumbed to his injuries right there on the residential street.
The victim was later identified as Shunn Piggee, a resident of Little Rock. As homicide detectives began their investigation, canvassing the area for any witnesses and searching for video surveillance that might shed light on the tragic event, the Pulaski County Coroner's office transported Mr. Piggee's body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. The initial shock of the incident gave way to a determined search for those responsible, with the Little Rock Police Department's Homicide Detectives leading the investigation.
Weeks after the fatal shooting, the investigation yielded significant progress. On Thursday, July 11, 2024, detectives arrested 22-year-old Larry Xavier Clark of Little Rock in connection with the homicide. He was subsequently charged with Capital Murder. The investigation did not stop there, as detectives continued to pursue all leads. This led to a second arrest on August 7, 2024, when 65-year-old Larry Clarke Sr. was taken into custody and also charged with Capital Murder, marking a crucial development in the ongoing case and bringing a measure of hope for justice for the death of Shunn Piggee.
