In Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 21, 2014, a young Black/African American man named Bernard Daris Sherrod, aged 20, was at his home when his life was tragically cut short. He was in the apartment he shared with his mother, Essence Williams, when another man shot him. The dispute was reportedly over a girl Sherrod had recently met. The sudden violence of the act shattered the peace of their home and ended a young life full of potential.
